Types Of Recipes

We are looking for recipes that fit into one of our recipe categories: Vegetarian, Wheat-Free Baking, Blood Type Diet, Healthier Desserts, Raw Foods, Catch of the Day, Organic Meat, Herb Corner and Natural Body Care.

Recipes should include healthy ingredients such as:

  • vegetables and fruit
  • beans and lentils
  • whole grain products (especially wheat-free and gluten-free)
  • nuts and seeds
  • organic lean meats
  • eggs
  • wild caught fish (except those species likely to contain contaminants - for more info see Dr. Weil's "Facts About Fish" page).
  • tofu; tempeh
  • yogurt, milk, cheese - preferably goat's milk or dairy-free sources made from nuts/seeds, rice or soy; however, cow's milk products are acceptable
  • natural sweeteners (honey, Sucanat, brown rice syrup, maple syrup, stevia)
  • healthy fats such as cold pressed vegetable oils
  • herbs and spices, fresh or dried
  • body care recipes should use natural ingredients only

The following ingredients are allowed but we prefer they be in limited quantities:

  • white flour (if used, it should be unbleached)
  • butter; lard
  • white or brown sugar
  • salt
  • imitation vegetarian meats and cheeses
  • coffee and alcoholic beverages may be used as flavourings but not as main ingredients

Recipes should exclude:

  • fatty, processed or nitrite containing meats
  • processed cheese products
  • processed junk foods
  • products with msg
  • products with artificial colours, flavours, preservatives and other additives
  • margarine and other hydrogenated fats
  • artificial sweeteners such as aspartame
